Lakeshore Longhouse Native Sons and Daughters Program
|
Welcome to the web site of the Lakeshore Longhouse Native Sons and
Daughters Program. Native Sons and Daughters is a program in which fathers
and their sons and daughters spend quality time together learning and
experiencing new things, having fun, and making memories that will last a lifetime.
The program is modeled after the national Indian Guides and Indian Princesses
programs that many of our current dads were part of when they were kids.

Campout Dates and Locations for the 2011 - 2012 Year
Annual Picnic was Great!!
An estimated 100 people attended the annual Native Sons and Daughters program
picnic at Patterson Park on August 16th. It was a beautiful evening, and everyone had
a great time. Thanks to all the dads who helped make it a fun event for all.
It was great to see so many new families there. Hopefully they will attend the fall
campout(s) or another NS and D event this fall.
More info about the program:
There are three campouts a year for both the boys and the girls programs. The campouts are held
at a variety of YMCA camps throughout Michigan where we take advantage of their experienced
staff, cozy cabins, and excellent camp kitchens (some more excellent than others).
At the campouts dads provide guidance to their sons and daughters, who then try and succeed at
fun and challenging things they might not otherwise do until they are much older: archery, climbing a
rock wall, zooming down a zip line, solving problems as a team, and much more. Click on the Images button
at the left or click here to see photos of some of the great things you will do with your son or daughter.
Give it a shot!
The dads of the Lakeshore Longhouse Native Sons and Daughters Program hope that you check out one of
the events this year. We're confident that you will find it one of the best things you ever do with your
child or children.
If you are interested in the program or want to be added to our email list to get the latest news about
coming events, send an email to Charlie Krasner, Frank Costa, or Pat Carlsen. You can also find the
program on Facebook at www.facebook.com/groups/nsd.lakeshore/
